Conversation about Dr. Maya Angelou – The Mask

I find this one so moving, so personal – WHAT a performance.

She touches on the part of women, and in particular black women, that is so alluring: the layers of charm, humour and wit that are used to hide our pain, hurts and rejection.

No one must know what’s behind the mask, it’s private, that’s the real me right there. If I show you the real me, what will be left?

  1. this is so profound and compelling! Another demonstration of Maya Angelou’s talent, wit, wisdom and strength. Thanks for sharing.

      1. For sure! Her autobiography, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” made such an impact on me as a young girl, that she still holds as a young girl that she still holds a special place in my heart. I will definitely keep on sharing her words!
